Storaco Walnut Festival Organizing Committee

The Walnut Festival (Sagra delle Noci), which is held ANNUALLY in the hamlet of Cantalupo in Filottrano, is deeply rooted in the local agricultural tradition. The walnut is a widespread fruit in the area and historically represented an important resource for farming families, both for consumption and for sale.

The festival was created to celebrate this typical product and the traditions linked to its harvesting and processing, which have always been part of the social and economic fabric of the Marche region. The event represents a strong link with the past and an opportunity to rediscover ancient flavors and crafts.

The festival is enlivened by music, folk shows, and reenactments that create a lively and welcoming atmosphere, attracting visitors from across the region. It is an opportunity not only to taste culinary specialties but also to immerse oneself in the traditions and sense of community that characterize this small town.

NOTE:

The “Storaco walnuts” are not a specific variety of walnuts. The term “Storaco” refers to an ancient locality and a street in the municipality of Filottrano, where an abbey once stood.

The Festival, although known by this name, is held in the hamlet of Cantalupo and celebrates walnuts in general, which are a typical and traditional product of the Marche territory. Essentially, the name of the event references history and ancient local toponymy, not a specific botanical variety.
