Church of the Sacred Stigmata
Details
The church has a rectangular plan and is articulated across three levels: the first is the entrance level, connected by a staircase to the assembly hall level, which is separated by a large round arch and a further staircase from the presbytery floor, which is the highest. The hall is covered with a barrel vault punctuated by arches set on wall pilasters; the central area of the barrel vault is lunetted, allowing for the opening of two semicircular windows. Two secondary altars are located in the hall, embellished with Baroque frames composed of fluted colonnettes with Corinthian capitals and a triangular pediment above, dedicated to the Virgin with Child and the Sacred Stigmata.
The presbytery, covered with a painted vault, is organized around the main, typically Baroque altar, which preserves the Holy Crucifix. A simple wooden choir surrounds the altar.
The façade features four giant order pilasters that support a triangular pediment and rest on a plinth. The façade is thus divided into three sections: the narrower side sections, which contain two empty niches, and the wider central section, with the entrance door and a superior window.
