This noble palace was renovated in the 18th century upon pre-existing Renaissance and medieval structures. The 18th-century project, commissioned by the Accorretti Marquises, nobles of Filottrano, also envisioned the construction of a monumental staircase and large halls which were never realized, in addition to a balcony above the 17th-century portal.
What can be admired today is therefore a partially completed palace, but one with valuable internal pictorial decorations dating back to the second half of the 18th century, attributed to Melchiorre Jeli, a painter from Freiburg active in the Marche region for ecclesiastical patrons. The palace preserves the original floors, doorframes, painted doors, and frescoed ceilings.
Inside there is a large paved courtyard, accessed through an 18th-century portal, and overlooked by the remains of a late medieval stone portal (formerly belonging to the Gentiloni family), and two 15th-to-16th-century portals. The Accorretti complex includes the lower section of the former stables and warehouses, and the 15th-century wing donated to the Municipality of Filottrano.
Even today, the palace remains an important symbol of Filottrano’s noble past, continuing to be appreciated for its historical and cultural value.
